Studio Art Tour returns
Meeting the artists
in this year?s BWG Studio Art Tour.
Photos and story by Miriam King, Bradford Times Emily Lange, with her Champion calf at the 4-H Dairy Show, sponsored by the Cookstown Agricultural Society at the Barrie Fair on August 23.
On August 21, the 160th Barrie Fair officially opened at its new permanent home, the Essa Agriplex.
The talk at the Fair was less about the midway, livestock shows, horses, tractor pulls and entertainment, and more about the venue itself. Fair-goers were enthusiastic about the facilities, the layout, the ease of parking, and the rural setting - and about the Barrie Agricultural Society?s commitment to agriculture, in making the long-term investment to provide a modern and updated facility to showcase Agriculture in Simcoe County. Both the Simcoe County Holstein Show, and the Cookstown Agricultural Society?s 4-H Fair and Achievement Day have now chosen to relocate at the new venue during the Barrie Fair - adding a different standard of competition to the Livestock Shows. The 4-H Fair included Horse, Sheep, Dairy and Beef Club competitions, and Achievement Day - for points and standing - for Cookstown 4-H members. 4-H is an international Youth organization, that focuses on leadership, citizenship, healthy living, science, and Agriculture. 4-H celebrates 100 years in 2013. see FAIR Page 16 Gary & Debbie Hrynyk Owners/Operator
